Love Home Swap is the largest home swapping platform in the world, with more than 100,000 homes worldwide, members are able to list details of their home, browse and contact other members before arranging and book trips. As the lead designer on the project I was responsible for everything from simple page designs, key conversion and acquisition pages to core functionality.
In 2015 Love Home Swap secured a large round of investment. They transitioned their design and development in-house and rebranded.
The onboarding/property listing process was fairly lengthy, unengaging and resulted in a significant drop off rate. The new designs dramatically simplified the process, removing unnecessary steps and transforming ‘boring’ forms into engaging interfaces with clear labeling and feedback. As a result the changes were A/B tested and the drop off rate decreased significantly, conversions increased and the new process was rolled out.
The messaging system lies the heart of Love Home Swap. As well as being the tool customers use to communicate with each other it also functions the tool they use to arrange and book trips. As there are multiple types of trips (Traditional swaps, rentals and points swaps) and options like availability calendars and rental agreements the aim was always to provide the simplest solution possible to even the most complex of tasks.
Chris Watson CPO, CTO at Love Home SwapBrendan and I worked closely together for a couple of years whilst at Love Home Swap. In this time he really helped us move the brand forward - working at all levels in the design process, from a big style facelift through to iterative improvements to the site.
His clean design and great thought process set him apart. Most recommended.
